Lok Sabha MUN Committee
A Lok Sabha simulation replaces UN procedure with Indian parliamentary procedure. Delegates are Members of Parliament debating a bill or motion, and the committee is scored on legislative craft as much as oratory.
How the committee runs
Sessions typically move through question hour, zero hour, and then the substantive debate on a bill or motion. The Speaker controls the floor with considerably more authority than a UN chair.
Output is a passed, amended or defeated bill rather than a resolution.
Preparing as an MP
Know your constituency, your party whip, and the specific clauses of the bill in question. Clause-level amendments are where Lok Sabha committees are won.
Read the actual bill text if one exists — most delegates do not, and it shows within twenty minutes.
- Party position and whip on the bill.
- Your constituency's stake in the outcome.
- Clause-by-clause reading of the bill.
- Precedents from real parliamentary debate.
What the Speaker rewards
Discipline. Lok Sabha simulations get chaotic, and delegates who use procedure correctly — raising points, seeking leave, moving amendments — stand out sharply.
Substantive amendments beat speeches. A delegate who redrafts a clause and gets it accepted has done more than one who spoke ten times.
