About the Committee

UNOOSA promotes international cooperation in the peaceful uses of outer space and serves as the secretariat for COPUOS, the primary UN forum for space law and policy. Membership has grown from 24 states in 1959 to 104 today.

With Artemis, the International Lunar Research Station and private lunar prospecting accelerating, delegates must draft a framework for resource extraction, property rights, environmental protection and equitable benefit-sharing beyond Earth.
