About the Committee
The First Committee of the UN General Assembly, DISEC addresses global challenges of armament, military conflict and international security. Since 1945 it has evolved from a Cold War forum into a comprehensive platform covering nuclear weapons, conventional arms, cyber security, outer space and emerging technologies in warfare.
With nuclear modernisation, hypersonic systems and AI-enabled targeting on the rise, delegates must confront the erosion of the non-proliferation regime and design credible pathways back to disarmament.
